How long after you done spray painting can I drive my vehicle?

You can drive your vehicle immediately. But it is very important that you do not get the fresh paintwork wet for at least 4-6 hours afterwards and that you do not touch it for the same amount of time as it will leave spots and fingerprints respectively. We might bake the paintwork before you drive if we feel its required.

How long until I can wash my vehicle?

You can wash your vehicle the next day, but high pressure wash only after three days.

Will the colour match?

Paint colour complexity increased daily as more advanced toners are developed to cope with the demand for beautiful colours. Today it’s very difficult to guarantee 100% colour match on metallic and pearlescent pigmented colours as blending-in is required to guarantee an undetectable repair. We take the utmost care to ensure that our clients are satisfied with the repair work, including the colour matching. Unfortunately, it is impossible to guarantee 100% colour matching without blending onto adjacent panels. In the correct light even brand new cars can show a slight colour difference between the bumper and fender.

Do you use waterbased paint?

No, we don’t use waterbased paint. We use a solvent based basecoat. Not only is solvent basecoat much easier to work with, but water basecoat also needs to be kept at constant room temperature and its shelf life is shorter, and being mobile it’s very difficult to accomplish this as we transport all raw toners with us. Considering that 0.5L of water basecoat can cost thousands, it’s not currently a feasible or practical option. But please note that Duxone solvent basecoat still carries a lifetime warranty globally and is compatible with all modern water born paint systems.

How do I know if a scratch can be polished out or not?

To do a simple test on a scratch to check if it is possible to polish out or not you can rub your fingernail over the scratch, if your nail gets stuck in the scratch it is too deep and will most likely not be able to polish out.

My friend was able to polish out that deep scratch you told me was impossible. Why is that?

Your friend was most likely polishing using high filling wax based polish. This works very well but its a temporary solution considering that the scratch is still there, it’s only filled up with silicon fillers which will wash out after a few washes. The polish we use does not have this “dye-back” effect as the scratch is completely removed, not filled.

Do you bake your paintwork?

If we feel its required we will bake, wet sand and polish the paintwork on the spot. If it’s not required we will not do so unless requested by the customer.

Will not baking result in the paintwork never curing properly?

No. The clearcoats we use can air-dry.

Will I get over-spray on my vehicle?

No. We use a mini spray gun that atomises very finely which results in overspray drying extremely fast. The overspray usually settles as fine dust. We cover the entire car with special plastic to avoid any overspray.

Can I send you my vehicles colour code so you can mix me a touch-up bottle?

We could do this but we can not be held responsible for incorrect colour matching as there are too many variants for each colour and it’s impossible to know which variant you vehicles colour is. We highly recommend matching it to you’re vehicles colour by you supplying us a sample. We do NOT, however, travel to your location to mix and match a touchup bottle as this will cost you too much. Dealers who are interested in bulk-matching of factory paint please contact us.

Can you mix me paint for my car so I can spray it myself?

Yes, we can, but please note that we only deal with Duxone basecoat. If you’re looking for cheap paint, we’re not your guys.

Please can you tell me how you mix automotive paints?

First, we locate your colour code on your vehicle. Once we have the formula code we enter it into a program on our laptop. This program then displayed all the currently available variants for that code where we then select one and view the “recipe” to mixing it. We then add the correct amount of each toner into a container on a scale and then add our basecoat thinner to correct viscosity. Once it’s done we test the colour and tint it until correct if required.
